Dr. Gregory Heidrick
Dr. Gregory W. Heidrick was born in Saint Louis, Missouri, in 1958 and grew up in Lincoln, Nebraska. He was educated at Saint Thomas College in Saint Paul, Minnesota and the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. After graduating from medical school Dr. Heidrick went on to do his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, in Oklahoma City. He has been in private practice here in Lincoln and associated with Lincoln OB-GYN since finishing his residency in 1988. Dr. Heidrick has been married to his wife Mary for over 30 years and has one daughter, a son-in-law, one son, and a grandson who is two years old.
Professionally Dr. Heidrick began using operative laparoscopy shortly after coming to Lincoln in 1988. He performed the first operative laparoscopic procedure in the community for an ectopic pregnancy that same year. Since that time he has continued with advances in operative gynecology using multiple techniques including laparoscopic surgery, minimally invasive robotic surgery, and vaginal surgery.
Dr. Heidrick’s goal is to mold the procedure to the patient instead of using one standard surgical technique and attempting to fit that technique to the patients needs. In that regard, robotic surgery has greatly enhanced his surgical repertoire and has been a real asset in allowing him to customize the surgery to the individual patient. Dr. Heidrick performed the first single incision robotic surgery in this region of the country and as of 10/15/2012, Dr. Heidrick has performed over 500 robotic surgeries at St. Elizabeth Regional Medical Center alone. Please view the recent article in this robotic surgery link where Dr. Heidrick was featured.
Dr. Heidrick has also been active in medical missionary work in Eastern Europe, including Romania, and in Africa over the last ten years. He enjoys being able to bring all of his different surgical techniques to other regions where advanced gynecologic surgery might not be possible otherwise.
Dr. Heidrick continues to see new patients particularly for gynecologic problems but is also still active in his obstetrical practice where he takes care of both normal and high risk pregnancies. Dr. Heidrick looks forward to many continuing years of practice.
